TOGETHER

Together we can change the world.

Our area has been plagued by fires since Wednesday. We are safe but on Wednesday some schools had to evacuate. On Thursday all school in my school district was cancelled so my Mom and I escaped all the fire talk and went to Disneyland.  While we were at Disneyland school was cancelled on Friday as well.

On the way home from Disneyland the fires were even worse than when we left. The firefighters had been working very long hours and it was about 103 outside. I wanted to help. I asked my Mom if would be OK for me to spend some of my money to buy some treats and fruit for the firefighters (she said yes of course) and then we had the idea to tell the community what we were going to do.

It was after 6pm on Thursday that we put the word out to the community that we were going to deliver food. I wasn’t really sure that anyone would be able to help since we were going to deliver at 1pm on Friday so no one really had much time.

Friday morning we headed out. Chick-Fil-A donated a big cookie tray (they have the BEST chocolate chip cookies), Sprouts donated and entire case of grapes and Costco gave me a $25 gift certificate to use. I spent that gift certificate, $100 of my own money and $20 that was donated by a very good friend who doesn’t even live around here to buy food.

BUT THEN the amazingness happened. My Mom and I went to the office to collect any food that might have been dropped off and there was an entire office full of food!! The people that work in the office said there had been a steady stream of people dropping food off pretty much since they opened. It made my mom cry and filled the back of the van.

The firefighters were ALL very happy for everything and touched greatly by all the cards.

Together we can change the world – THANK YOU
